to be fully transparent with you i am basically only making this blog post because i want to have something to put into the other tab of this site. i think i might mostly put project things into here though because i think this'd be a good spot for em. maybe i'll rename this tab at some point idk.
but anyway,
i made two new websites
i made each new site in a day and basically in a fugue flow state where i was completely unresponsive to external stimuli and then suddenly i realised i had a new website created (and then i did it again and had a second one). i literally was shocked last night when i found out that it was like 1:30am.
i'm really happy with them though!! and honestly i'm happy to have my groove back. i didn't have much motivation for personal projects over the winter so it feels insanely awesome to have my actual insane powers back. both sites are very much in the same style which you can tell by looking at them. i made both in remix, and the design was brought to me in a vision that was whole and complete.
there's actually a small story behind the purple which is that a few years ago i was like "i should get a shade of purple that i can use that's just for me", like how homestuck characters have kind of a signature colour. then i found this hex code, #ac6d98, which i do remember without having to look it up, and i was like yeah i'm gonna use this forever now. unrelated, but also both sites feature drawings of my ffxiv character, ifer morgan, because i like my little drawings of him, and i think they look cute on the site.
to be honest, i don't know if i could have made these sites as well as i could have if my new job wasn't awesome. i made these sites in remix, which i also use at work, and even though i've only been there for a short time, i've learned so much!! i gain power through all sorts of means and eventually it'll just be too much for anyone to handle.
the scariest part is that yesterday and the day before were literally work days. the time i spent making them was literally only during lunch and after work. insane. this guy has got to be stopped from making websites.
my personal site!
i made my personal site first two days ago (as of the time of writing this blog), and i made it because i wanted a carrd-like site that i could link to on social media and stuff to say a little about myself and my hobbies. i'm really happy with how this one turned out!
i think the little marquees (the scrolling things) in particular are really cute and fun, and i'm really happy with how the non-home pages kind of look like they're hidden underneath the home page and then phase through to become on top (which they aren't actually doing, there's just a translucent purple overlay put on top of the home page).
my new blog!
i made my new blog (you're here) yesterday and i wanted it to be very much like my new site, but also distinctly different. i also wanted tabs. i actually initially thought about making this site look like it was a regular social media site (except i'm the only one who can post on it), and was going to call it L-LIVE (like a play on lumens live and also alive. which was also another pun because i give my sites silly little names when i'm working on them and htis blog is blog-vitae).
i didn't end up doing that, but after having typed the idea again, i almost want to make a stupid twitter/bsky-like site that's just my posts. but i probably won't because i literally use bluesky and tumblr and i also have this blog so i think that kind of scratches the itch to yap.
i'm really happy with how this new blog turned out though!! i love my little blog signature on the homepage with the tiny ifer. also i had actually been meaning to make categories on my old blog site for a while but i hadn't gotten around to it, but now i have them because i specifically made this site with those in mind.
let's all make little websites
i don't know if this is as common as i perceive it to be, but it feels like people have been making carrds (or otherwise personal sites) less often in recent years, which i think is sad. there's been some small resurgence of making neocities, but that does definitely feel more like a niche thing that not as many people are doing.
but little websites are so fun!! it's a little window into someone. i hope you are enjoying your stay at my websites. i had a lot of fun making them even if i was so locked in that i was barely breathing.
i am now going to do absolutely nothing this weekend because i was too productive when i made my two new sites. i'm going to play honkai star rail and zenless zone zero and watch movies and bad tv with my boyfriend and get zonked out of my gourd. i think i deserve it.
